the Rocketeer Award winner.
Ekaterina (Kate) Tomilow
Selecting a winner at this year’s ACIDO Rocket Competition was no easy task. Dozens of exhibits showcased the exceptional work of Ontario’s top Industrial Design graduates, each demonstrating remarkable creativity and technical skill.
The Rocketeer Award recognizes outstanding prototype development, honoring students who excel in combining manual craftsmanship, digital tools, and workshop techniques to bring their designs to life.
Kate’s project, “Flex Wrap,” stood out as a shining example of innovation and execution. This meticulously designed medical device delivers targeted pressure therapy to specific areas of the calves. What truly impressed us was Kate’s ingenious use of FDM 3D printing directly onto stretchable fabric, ensuring precise flexibility, stretch, and pressure control.
Congratulations, Kate! Your talent and dedication promise a bright future ahead. We wish you continued success in your design career!

And the Rocketeer Award Goes To…
