Lack of bike storage in Toronto? The issues and how the University of Toronto plans on solving it

As winter finally comes to an end, people all over Toronto have resorted back to cycling as their primary mode of transportation. The city has seen a huge increase in cyclists year after year and has voiced their concerns for safe sufficient parking and storage in certain areas of the city. One of these effected areas is Harbord Village where storage is limited and people have resorted to locking their bikes up to fences.

A local prototyping and 3D printing service company, Custom Prototypes, has partnered with The Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto to help students create their first design prototype to attempt to solve this issue. The proposed concept was a vertical space saving solution that was designed to be able to fit on narrow sidewalks and to be placed around major intersections between Bathurst and Spadina.
