Our Tribute to Canada, The Process on How we Made Our 3D Printed Monument

Our little contribution to the 150th birthday of Canada has officially been carved in stone. This past weekend the plaque was unveiled and mounted on a towering rock at the Five Finger Rapids along the French River.

The monument started off as just a rough sketch and was later given depth using 3D design software. Once the desirable contrast and hierarchy was achieved the file was then prepared for 3D printing.

The whole plaque is one solid body made fully from 3D printed SLA plastic. It was then finished with two coats of rose metallic spray paint and sealed with a clear coat.

Finally, the piece was taken to the historic site and adhered to a visible rock using cement.
